Our child has suddenly started moving, and it's a little disconcerting to find her somewhere other than we left her.
The other morning I set her down to play with her fishes, and she scooted herself in a U:
To encourage her desire to stand, we got her an exersaucer and a jumper, which she'll need to grow into somewhat:
Maisy is overjoyed that Frankie has started to scoot:
(no, that's not a shark circling Frankie, although Maisy does circle like a shark when Frankie has rice-cereal-that-could-be-licked fingers and face)

Babies on the couch, a reprise
We had a fun playdate at Nathanael's yesterday with Cecelia and Hannah.
This one cracks me up - looks like Frankie has bonked her head and Nathanael is making sure she's okay.
Hannah asks "Why?"
This is like the end of the series outtakes photo. They're all starting to do their own thing, and Frankie is definitely going into meltdown mode.
Look at that big grin Frankie has for Nathanael.
She's still not sure how she feels about holding hands (or at least Nathanael eating her hands).
Big girl.

Chillin'
Frankie has started putting her hands behind her head just like her dad does when he sleeps. Maybe it's genetic?

Frankie's first solids meal
Frankie tried solids last night for the first time, and loved the rice cereal! We documented the whole thing on video, and apologize for the excessive "extended" coverage of this event, but we just had so much fun watching our little girl get rice cereal all over her face we couldn't stop.
Part I -- getting acquainted with the spoon, preparing mentally for the challenge.
Part II -- first bites, a little unsure...
Part III -- toward the end of the meal; is so excited about the rice cereal tries to take the bowl from mommy

4 months!
Frankie turns 4 months old today. She's a very different little girl than we brought home from the hospital:
Here's what Frankie's up to these days:
- She weighs 13lbs 12 ounces
- She loves to put her hands and anything in her hands in her mouth (see Exhibit A below)
- She's started to roll over from her back to her belly - she gets about half way these days!
- She's been consistently sleeping through the night for the past month, which for us means I feed her at 10, and then we don't hear from her until about 5:30 or 6. Except in the last few days, when she's woken up twice in the middle of night famished. I think we'll call that a growth spurt, and hope it evens out in the next week or so.
- She likes formula in her bottle better than breastmilk, and will take the formula from Heather much more readily now.
- She smiles all the time at us, but always looks at the camera with a confused, rather dazed look, so sorry there aren't more pictures of her beautiful smile for the blog!
- She has started to laugh -- it's this wonderful, deep, belly-laugh that comes out like a chuckle.
- She loves her bath and will kick and splash for 20 minutes some nights.
- She still likes to be swaddled (see Exhibit B below). We have made attempts to kick the swaddle habit, but since she's not waking us up at night if she gets out of her swaddle (which she usually does), we didn't really see the need to stop. Chris pointed out that he doesn't like to sleep without a blanket or sheet, so why would she?
- She eats on average every 3 hours, sometimes 3.5, sometimes 4, sometimes 2!
