We had a great Halloween! Frankie was a fairy princess, and Dexter was the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Rachel and her mom, Tia Lulu went Trick or treating with us. Frankie really understood what was going on this year. Rachel had her practicing saying "Trick or Treat" before we left for the evening, and it usually came out "Treat or Treat", which I think is really more accurate for a 2-year-old girl.
We've decided to dole out the candy one piece at a time, after dinner, although we allowed her to have 2 pieces on Halloween. This is how it was for me growing up, and I remember when I first explained this to Chris, he was horrified. He and his brothers would eat as much candy as they possibly could - in his mind that was the idea behind the holiday. While it may come to that in the future, for now we're able to limit - Frankie is really happy with her one piece.
One of the moms at church said her eldest son (who is 8) was complaining of a stomach-ache Sunday morning. He eventually admitted to eating a full-sized snickers before breakfast (to which his mom replied "Well, what did you expect?!" My kinda mom). Chris, upon hearing this admitted that he also had had 2 Reese's peanut butter cups before breakfast and wasn't feeling so hot either. Apparently we never learn.

Rebecca (geek), Rachel (gypsy), Frankie (fairy princess), Dexter (itsy bitsy spider), Jenny (old man mask, which was actually Chris's costume)
We hit the streets with Tia Lulu!
I think Dexter's favorite part was getting to climb all the neighbor's steps
Trick or Treat, Karen!
Trick or Treat, Peter!
Waiting for Felipe to answer the door...
Trick or Treat, Evan!
Dex preferred to hold the candy in his hands instead of putting it in the bucket. This method resulted in a rather low yield of candy since he would have the pieces from the last house still in his hands when he hit the next house
This was a full theatrical-production of the Thriller video that was going on on Melville Ave - there were about 50 people gathered to watch them!
Click through to the video to get a picture of the insanity that is Melville Ave on Halloween night: (Melville is one block north of us)

Frankie sings "I want Candy, I already have lots of Candy"
This is a really awesome picture I found on our camera (which means Rachel took it). This pumpkin was on Malibu Beach a few days after Halloween:
