You know it's cold when...
the olive oil in the cabinet turns to a solid. That's right, apparently we keep our house so cold (and the cabinet that this is stored in apparently is closed off from getting even that heat). For the record, we keep the house at 62 during the day and a balmy 55 at night. And our heating bill was still over $500 last month.

I cannot believe
1. that you keep your house so cold and
2. that your bill is still that high!
Who would have thought it could be so expensive to freeze olive oil?
CRAZY! That is really, really cold. . .and reminds me of the time the Doreians and the Polks shared a blanket on the couch at small group at your house. hehe. Good times.
We keep our house at 68 daytime and nighttime and it doesn't always run during winter and during summer at 78, but it runs almost all summer long. . .not fun to look forward to.
That is crazy that your house is that cold and your bill is so high! Crazy.
When we were little kids and lived in Japan (in a house made of paper and wood) we had no central heat. My mom would prop open the cabinets so that the oil and honey and stuff wouldn't solidify. You guys should get the electric toilet seat warmers (fuzzy tube sock things that plugged in) that made middle-of-the-night potty trips more bearable! Brrrrrrrr. But we all survived it, and to this day we sleep better in cold rooms.
what and what? oil freezing? heating bill $500? it's 65 right now outside in ca and i find it chilly. although i miss you all terribly, i do not miss boston winter!
love the site...need more videos!!!
