Rolling - finally!

Dex is finally rolling! He mastered the skill a few days ago, and is very proud of himself. After a nap last Friday, Rachel found him still mostly swaddled with one arm out, on his belly, looking up at her, grinning to beat the band. He has been swaddle-less since Friday night! We tried very unsuccessfully at least two other times previouslyto kick the swaddle habit. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth and I just couldn't take it. My momma bear instict just didn't think he was ready.

Turns out he's ready now! There really hasn't been much crying, although he's had a few shorter-than-usual naps, and a few 5 am wakings. I think we may be in for some crying soon if he rolls over in the middle of the night and can't get back onto his back, a skill he's still working on.

He's a big 8-month old baby now, and is happy, happy happy. He's the happiest kid ever. He seriously busts out into chuckles if you look at him twice. I'm really enjoying this stage with him, and love getting to know my little boy more every day.

Rock on, Dex! Way to go, bud. Pretty soon you and Brian are going to get into some serious trouble together, aren't you? And then you'll try to charm us with your smiles. :)
